That’s what Fred and Paulinho did for the home team yesterday in a friendly vs England and it must have caused them great joy to have done it wearing the #golden yellow of Brazil at the legendary stadium.
But imagine what it must have felt like for England youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who scored in the 67th minute and for veteran Wayne Rooney.
Rooney has accomplished a great deal already in his great career but you can bet he won’t soon forget scoring the go-ahead 2-1 goal, curling a wonderful shot into the top corner of the net in the 79th.
His team may only have walked away with a 2-2 tie in the end but the goal will no doubt remain a beautiful memory for a player who used to be referred to as the White Pele.
And perhaps that goal and Oxlade-Chamberlain’s are a wee reminder to locals that it was an Englishman by the name of #Charles Miller who brought the game to Brazil all those years ago…
