It doesn’t look like much in black and white but the old days of futebol were played out in living colour in Brazil’s legendary Maracana Stadium.

Famous for holding a record 200,000 #fans for the 1950 World Cup final – which Brazil lost in shocking fashion to Uruguay – the Maracana has also over the years provided a venue for big local clubs like Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama to play out their dramas.

The stadium has been updated for the 2014 World Cup with a reduced seating capacity of 78,000 spectators.

While there may be fewer fans in the stands compared to 1950 there is still plenty of room for beautiful moments and memories in 2014 and beyond.
